Woodlands 3 Power Plant
Owner: Modesto Irrigation District
Engineer: Burns & McDonnell
Location: Modesto, CA
Project Details:
Haskell Corporation is constructing a new 50MW power plant expansion for Modesto Irrigation District(MID) in California's Central Valley. This new facility is being constructed adjacent to two existing turbine plants that are in full operation by MID. The project consists of six Wartsila reciprocating engine/generator sets that produce 8.3 MW's each. Working to a very aggressive project schedule required by MID, to date Haskell has successfully completed all underground construction, the cooling system equipment, along with the erection of the stacks, pollution control equipment and all support steel. The engine hall building is nearing completion with all auxiliary support equipment installed in preperation for arrival of the Wartsila engines in mid November. Additionally Haskell crews and subcontractors are safely working all fronts of construction including process piping systems, firewater, plant electrification, auxiliary control and equipment buildings along with final grading and paving. Haskell's field construction management team and construction crews have successfully met all of the project challenges that are associated with building a complex power plant in a very congested and restricted location, both safely and on schedule.
